The Schlafly Story
Can be read by clicking on this link.
Yeah… I might have posted this already, but my pride has bested me and I feel it’s worth it to post it again in case you missed it this morning. There’s some interesting bits in there (I think), especially about the craft/mass market designation.

Sunday Social Media Pimpings:
So, I do other things besides Tumblr.
Facebook: Yes, Whosisbrew has a Facebook, and you can “like” it or whatever by clicking this link. Well, by clicking the link, you’ll go to the page. Then you have to “like” it if you feel so inclined.
Twitter: I do the tweeting bit, too. You can find Whosisbrew on Twitter by clicking this thing, and then “following”...
drinkipa replied to your post: I’ve been asked
what are you going to cover? and how many bartenders are there?
Not sure about the amount of bartenders, but I’m guessing I’ll cover a lot of tasting notes, so that they’re up to speed on quickly informing a customer about what a beer tastes like. Maybe some very light discussion about styles to tie it all in.

I've been asked
To meet a group of bartenders and give an informative talk about beer on Saturday! Kind of awesome when you think about it.
Tomorrow is Friday. Delicious beer will be had.
And goodnight.

From a message sent to me by prairiestateeffects:
“Later in the evening I heard the distributor tell people bottled beer should be poured into a glass so the carbonation is released and you don’t burp or get gas – nothing to do with smelling or tasting the beer. On another occasion he got in the face of a restaurant owner who had one Bud tap. He also told a guy planning on opening a...

Just Some Notes and Stuff
My story on Deep Ellum Brewing Company can be read by clicking here if you missed it.
Tomorrow will be the inaugural “Wednesdays with the Captain” post, in which I will do a round-up style commentary post about various beer-related topics. Fun. It’s a more succinct way of talking about a few things at a time.
A can of Sixpoint Resin is waiting for me when I get home. Mmm.

Joe Canals has a great selection-we used to go to the one in Woodbridge before we moved 20 min south. Not sure how far you are but have you ever been to Cranbury Buy Rite? It’s my husband and I’s go to spot they have a really awesome selection too.
Ah! The one in Woodbridge is the one I frequent. Great spot,...

Definitely convinced me to give this a taste at some point. Considering the negative things I’ve heard, I’m happy to see that at least some are enjoying it.
You should, it’s a lovely beer. I really don’t understand the manner in which Sam Adams beers are reviewed. It’s as if people...

Not to Harp on Such Matters,
But a little while ago, I saw this retweeted by Beeradvocate:
“According to Alexa, @BeerAdvocate’s site is ranked 13,832 in the world versus BudLight.com at 29,681 & CoorsLight.com at 326,153”
I would imagine the implied message there is “VICTORY FOR CRAFT BEER,” but ugh… can’t we just put our critical thinking hats on for like, two seconds?

Hmmm...
I’m giving serious consideration to attending The NYC American Craft Beer Festival on March 3rd. Anyone in the area thinking of giving it a go?

newbeernewyear replied to your post: What a Man’s Choice in Beer (Really) Reveals about his Personality
I was legitimately dumbfounded that someone would present such a ridiculous article. Extremely. Dumbfounded.
Quite honestly, I think the “Abstainers” bit was my favorite part. It basically says “If you don’t drink, you’re a big f*cking bore. This study I dug...

What a Man's Choice in Beer (Really) Reveals about...
I found this gem while browsing for beer-related news stories just a little while ago. Go take a look at it, and then come back over here.
…
Done?
Splendid.
So now that you’ve been imbued with the supposed knowledge of what these six beer brands (four of which are barely discernible from one another) say about a man, let’s break it down with a much-needed shot of realism, as...

Oh and, “Hop Drops” are a thing. If you don’t like the taste of light beer, spike it with some artificial flavor or something.

Alba is my favorite of the Williams Brothers varietals - and Kelpie (their seaweed ale) is also muy delicioso. What’s interesting is since the brewery is so committed to ensuring their product is authentic to the region…as a result, no hops!
I really have to try more of their stuff, I’ve had only Fraoch...

I had a captain Lawrence smoke from the oak 2010 tonight. My palate is rather..coated.
Coated like syrup on pancakes, I’d bet.
